MORE ON RYDER–A Personal Introduction

I thought I’d change the focus of my articles for this week, and let you know a little more about me, the writer, so here goes.
I’ve lived in states from California to Florida and from Ohio to Texas, and everywhere in between. I’ve worked at several jobs, but the ones most helpful in my writing have been as an officer for the Sheriff’s Department, and as an independent paralegal. In both positions I learned a lot about the way things work in the law, both in the world of criminals, and in the courts.

I’m an animal lover to the extreme and have lived with dogs, cats, horses, and even a monkey. I’ve rescued dogs from the pound and cats from the freezing cold.

I’m a spiritual person, believing in my Savior, my Elder Brother, the Messiah. I don’t fit into the typical churches, nor in the typical synagogues. I worship The Father and The Son, and know that Yeshua was Jewish and lived and taught The Way of life that His Father designed.

I love the earth and try my best to leave the smallest carbon footprint possible. I recycle. I try to avoid the use of plastic water bottles and plastic grocery bags. Sometimes I’m not successful, but most days I am.

I love to eat from our garden, where I know the food hasn’t been sprayed with pesticides. I fight pests with vinagar and cayanne, and whatever other homemade, natural product I can create. I make my own laundry soap and our family cooks real meals, though we have been seen buying a frozen dinner on occassion.

I believe in moderation in all things except in worship. I believe I can’t worship too much.
I don’t watch reality TV. I don’t watch American Idol. I don’t join chat rooms where topics of discussion are vulgar, racist, or anti-semetic.

If I could go anywhere in the world, I’d go to Israel and walk on the same gound my Savior walked on. I’d love to see all the sights of America that I haven’t been able to visit, like Yosimite National Park, and Niagra Falls.

I love to write and wrote my first book when I was ten years old. For many years I lived the typical life of Americans, chasing the dream, wanting the house and kids and the picket fence. I don’t do that anymore.

I write because I love to write. I sell my books because I want to share my writing with the world. If I’m pleased and happy with the publishing company and editor who works with me, I will show my appreciation by being loyal.

I have big dreams for my writing, but not in the way of the typical writer. I have a plan in mind for offering two different kinds of books to the public. I don’t see myself being pushed into trying to put out a new book every six months, or even every year. I will write the best book I can write, and then I’ll offer it. It may take six months, or it may take six years. Life is too short to turn what I love into something so pressure filled that I don’t even like it anymore.

I hope this article gives you a little insight into me, the author. Very soon, I intend to start writing articles introducing characters in my soon to be published book, and introducing the small town in Louisiana that is the setting for the book.

I also want to introduce some other types of articles on this blog.  And I’m open to suggestions from readers. What would you like to see here? I’d love to hear from you.
